Anyone who is currently experiencing domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, or stalking, or has experienced one of these crimes in the past. Also, secondary survivors of assault qualify for our services as well, such as immediate family members of a survivor.
"I'm outside of your main service area. Does that disqualify me from receiving services from the Family Crisis Center of East Texas?"
No. Agency staff will serve any survivor of domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, or stalking from anywhere.
"Do I have to be in immediate danger to get help?"
No. You do not have to be in immediate danger or in crisis to reach out for support, safety planning, or information.
"Are your services free?"
Yes. All services provided by the Family Crisis Center to survivors are completely free of charge.
"Are your services confidential?"
Yes. Your privacy and safety are our priority, and services are confidential within legal limits.
"Do I need to file a police report before getting services?"
No. You can receive services whether or not you choose to involve law enforcement.
"Do I have to report the assault to get a forensic exam?" In many cases, no. You may be able to receive a forensic exam without immediately reporting to law enforcement.
"Can someone come with me to the hospital?" Yes. An advocate may be available to accompany and support you.
"Do you offer counseling?" Yes. Counseling is available for survivors and children impacted by violence.
"What if I don’t speak English?" We have bilingual staff or access to interpretation services.
"Can men receive services too?" Yes. Services are available to all survivors.
